Settling in Home and Studio

I moved out almost a year ago from my converted-garage-home-studio to make it a rental and moved back into my main house. [I always feel rather posh whenever I say my main house]

My daughter Rose and grandson have occupied and rented the 4-bedroom home with various roomies since she was pregnant. Shiloh will be 7 this May...SEVEN!

This house is a two-story 1940-something bungalow with an epic upstairs that feels very loft-like. I occupy the upstairs where I have a sitting area, a small bedroom and half bath and also a creative space where I can work and film my online courses that I am developing.

It is a funky challenging space that has taken me weeks upon months to sort out How To Make it My Own for my creative business as an artist and also my Sanctuary.

I am hosting an Open Home Studio Feb 9th for folks to come see what I've done with the space. (details HERE) I've been summoning all of my creative energies to come forward and help guide me in all of the design decisions of how to make this space cozy and 100% a place of my own. I felt displaced for awhile as I returned home from all my travels...and then I wondered, "How long will I actually be here?" which caused me to not quite settle in as I could be on the move again so why bother?

This was not in my best interest to treat my sanctuary and creative space like a motel room.

Once I resolved to own this space fully as HOME, inspiration began to waterfall into my imagination. I thought of homes that inspire me like my friend Lisa's  forest lodge home which is so cozy and welcoming. I began to design my sitting area with a woodsy cabin theme.

An artist I follow  recently posted photos of the reset of her creative studio. I studied her photos for she is also a video instructor so her space is set up for creating and filming.

By studying her setup I was able to come up with a design plan. It is an entirely different way of having my art space than ever before, though now that I am developing online courses it will serve the filming process as well as maintain the space I need for art making.

And it is coming together so effin amazing!

All of this nesting has done wonders for my mental and emotional well-being for in making my space truly my Home I now am anchored in my body and heart in this safe haven.

I have a vagabond spirit that is very much at home on the road adventuring and exploring living out of a suitcase and bouncing around, yet right now it is good to stabilize myself with home and community as well as a steady paycheck... I got a part-time job working afternoons. I'm working for an aftercare program at a local elementary school. It is working out great having a school schedule, though lemme tell you, the first couple of weeks was a hard learning curve working for the man again after being self-employed for the last six years. Though having a predictable steady income FEELS SO DAMN GOOD !

I have goals [always!] and this little job is helping me achieve my goals and take care of home repairs and all the adulting things to firm up financials which allows me to plan with confidence future endeavors.

We do what we must in order to do what we Love.

So I'll be close to home for all of this year and prolly most of next with pockets of travel to scratch that itch as I'm able.

Blissed and Blessed. I am so Blissed and Blessed.

So let's hang out my local friends and neighbors. I am gonna be here a while and I'd love to share cups of coffee with you in my cozy creative Home.
