Join me for three days set apart for art-making, creative adventure, laughter, and camaraderie in a retreat designed to delight and inspire the heart, mind and spirit.
Together we will paint, sketch, play with mixed media, and discover how looking at the world through artful eyes can spark entirely new possibilities for creative expression.
As an artist who grew up in Las Vegas, I am especially excited to share a side of this remarkable city that most visitors never get to experience. From the colors and textures of the surrounding desert to the artistry tucked beneath the neon, we will explore, observe, and transform our discoveries into our own original works of art.

Three days set apart to make art, explore, connect, and see the world through fresh eyes. From our creative classroom time to the Las Vegas Strip, art galleries, and the magnificent scenery of the Nevada desert, every experience has been thoughtfully curated to provoke the imagination and fuel your creative inspiration with artful vision.
Day One | Let the Creative Magic Begin
Through playful exploration of paint, collage, and expressive mark making, we will begin creating our own original mixed-media artwork on an 11 x 14 wood panel. We'll loosen up, experiment, and discover the freedom of making art with step by step guidance of a variety of mixed-media techniques. We will delve into an introduction to sketching with ink and watercolor paint to build confidence for travel sketching as we explore the city and the desert.
When the sun goes down, we will have an evening excursion to see the lighits at night. Creative Magic After Dark will take us into the dazzling spectacle of the Strip, including a special stop at the Bellagio Hotel, where we will discover botanical beauty, artistic inspiration, and a study of the spectacular glass exhibit by world acclaimed glass artist, Dale Chihuly. This will be an evening of exploring inspiration in unexpected places.
Day Two | The Art of Observation
On Day Two we will explore another side of Las Vegas through a curated art gallery excursion. We will view inspiring works of art and creative perspectives as we gather ideas, colors, patterns, and impressions in our personal sketchbooks. We will visit the vibrant heart of The Arts District where local artists showcase contemporary works amidst their working studio galleries.
The afternoon will be spent continueing work on our panels and adding paint to our sketches.
Through guided instruction in intuitive layering, composition, collage, and mixed-media techniques, we will develop our artworks in new and unexpected directions.
Day Three | Desert Magic & Creative Transformation
Our morning adventure takes us to breathtaking Red Rock Canyon, one of the crown jewels in the entire state of Nevada. We will observe and have photo opps as well as guided sketching sessions where ancient sandstone formations and desert colors invite us to slow down and look a little closer.
Back in the classroom we will bring our creative journey full circle, adding final layers and personal expression to our mixed-media artworks.
We will bring our full time of Creative Magic in Vegas to a close with a special farewell dinner together at the hotel's upscale Italian restaurant, Bistecca.
You'll leave with your original artwork, a beautiful collection of art supplies to continue your creative adventures, and perhaps something even more valuable: a renewed sense of creative possibility and the ability to discover magic wherever life takes you.

WHERE WE WILL BE STAYING
Creative Magic in Vegas will be held at the Tuscany Suites and Casino, a property that is near the Strip with some of the largest hotel rooms in the city. With several onsite restaurants and a beautiful pool to enjoy, the Tuscany provides a more low key stay than the large resorts on the nearby Strip. There is a beautiful pool open daily until 10p each evening as well as a hot tub. Bring your suit!
With free parking and truly spacious rooms, the Tuscany is a favorite for many visitors to Las Vegas.
With conference facilities on site, the Tuscany will be our creative homebase as we explore art making as well as the surrounding area. Every room is oversized with a sofa for lounging as well as a small kitchenette.
Participants who join Creative Magic in Vegas will have access to a booking code for a special art retreat rate that waives the daily resort fee.

A thoughtfully assembled art kit, filled with the supplies and materials you'll need for our creative adventures and also for your keeping to take home. No need to bring any art supplies. I GOT YOU.

Three guided excursions, including an after-dark exploration of the Las Vegas Strip, a visit to the vibrant Arts District, and an adventure into the breathtaking beauty of Red Rock Canyon's scenic drive. Cold water will be abundantly available on all excursions.

Things to Consider
A little planning goes a long way toward making your Creative Magic in Vegas experience as enjoyable and carefree as possible.
Here are a few things to consider as you choose to join this creative retreat:
Arrival and Departure
Whether you fly or drive to Las Vegas, plan to arrive and check in at the hotel on April 27th. We will begin our retreat the morning of April 28th, 2027 at 11am. Our retreat is officially over the evening of Friday, April 30th, after our farewell dinner. Our block of rooms for this retreat has been set aside from Tuesday April 27th through check-out on Saturday, May 1st, at 11am, though be aware the Tuscany will give you a late check-out if you make your request known.
Accommodations
Our creative home base will be the beautiful Tuscany Suites & Casino, where I've arranged a special room rate for retreat participants. A booking code will be provided once you register which will give you access to a special rate and the daily resort fee waived. You'll be responsible for reserving and paying for your own accommodations.While you're welcome to stay elsewhere, I highly encourage you to stay at the Tuscany! It's where our creative space will be located and also where all our excursions will begin and end. Staying on the property will make your experience that much easier and more enjoyable.
Transportation
Whether you're flying or driving to Las Vegas, transportation to and from the Tuscany Suites is your responsibility and is not included in your registration. For those arriving at Harry Reid International Airport, taxis and rideshare services are readily available. Taxi fares to the Tuscany are generally around $25–$35 each way, depending on traffic and applicable fees. For those arriving by car, parking is free at the Tuscany (yay!).
Transportation for all three scheduled retreat excursions is included in your registration.
Walking & Mobility
Our creative adventures will involve some walking, including exploring art galleries, visiting scenic locations, and moving around the Tuscany property. You'll also need to be comfortable boarding and exiting our excursion vehicles. Some locations may have uneven terrain.While our excursions are not designed to be strenuous, a reasonable level of mobility and stamina will help you enjoy the experience. If you have mobility considerations or questions about accessibility, please contact me before registering. I'm happy to discuss the activities and physical requirements so you can make an informed decision about your participation.
Artistic Experience
Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time or you've been making art for years, there's a place for you here! Creative Magic in Vegas is not about mastering complicated techniques or creating perfect works of art. It's about curiosity, experimentation, playful discovery, and finding fresh ways to express yourself.
I'll introduce a variety of mixed-media approaches, creative exercises, and artistic possibilities that beginners can explore with confidence and experienced art makers can soak up for fresh inspiration. Come as you are, with an open mind and a willingness to play!
Meals & Dietary Needs
Your registration includes three lunches, refreshments and a special farewell dinner. There are several onsite restaurants for you to choose from for meals that are not included. You can review all the dining options at the hotel's website, www.tuscanylv.com
or dietary restrictions, let me know in advance so I can coordinate with our catered meals. I'll do my best to accommodate your needs. Take note that all rooms come with a refrigerator.
Traveling with a Companion
You're absolutely welcome to travel to Las Vegas with your spouse, partner, friend, or family member. There is plenty for everyone to enjoy in this vibrant city, and how you spend your personal free time is entirely up to you.
Please keep in mind that all Creative Magic in Vegas activities are exclusively for registered retreat participants. This includes our art sessions, excursions, group lunches, and farewell dinner. We're unable to accommodate additional guests at any of these activities.This helps preserve the intimate, thoughtfully curated experience planned for our creative group.
Making the Most of Your Creative Getaway
Las Vegas is a city overflowing with entertainment and possibilities. For these three special days, I invite you to step away from the distractions of this exciting city and give yourself the gift of being fully present. We are each setting aside this time for art making, discovery, connection, and creative inspiration. There will be plenty to experience together, and I encourage you to arrive rested, curious, and ready to immerse yourself in creative camarederie.
If you're wanting to explore more of the Las Vegas nightlife and other attractions, consider arriving sooner or extending your time after the retreat.
Registration, Cancellation & Refund Policies
I want your Creative Magic in Vegas experience to be wonderful from the moment you register! Please take a few minutes to review these important details so you can plan your creative getaway with confidence.
Registration & Cancellation Policy
Creative Magic in Vegas is an intimate, thoughtfully curated retreat with limited enrollment. Because arrangements for our venue, excursions, meals, and art supplies are made in advance, all retreat registrations are considered final and nonrefundable, except as described below.
Life sometimes brings unexpected changes. If you find yourself unable to attend, please contact me as soon as possible. If your reserved place can be filled by another participant, a refund may be offered, less a $150 administrative fee. Refunds under this exception are not guaranteed and depend upon successfully filling your place.
Retreat Confirmation
Creative Magic in Vegas requires a minimum number of participants to make this special experience possible.
All registered participants will be notified no later than February 1, 2027, whether the retreat is officially confirmed or canceled. If our minimum enrollment is reached sooner, confirmation may be sent earlier.
In the unlikely event that I must cancel Creative Magic in Vegas, all retreat registration payments will be refunded in full.
Pamela Sue Johnson Art is not responsible for independently arranged travel expenses, including airfare, accommodations, transportation, or other personal expenses.
Booking Your Travel & Accommodations
To help protect your travel investment, I strongly recommend waiting until you receive official confirmation that the retreat is proceeding before purchasing nonrefundable airfare or making other nonrefundable travel arrangements.
You're welcome to reserve your accommodations at the Tuscany Suites & Casino in advance to take advantage of our special group rate. The Tuscany requires a deposit when booking your room. Reservations may be eligible for a full refund when canceled within the hotel's stated cancellation period. Please review the hotel's cancellation terms carefully when making your reservation, as hotel bookings and refunds are handled directly by the Tuscany.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is recommended to help protect your investment against unexpected illness, emergencies, travel disruptions, or other circumstances that may prevent you from attending. Please review your policy carefully to understand what is and is not covered.
