Our bodies hold our stories.
They carry the memories of childhood, heartbreak, healing, adventure, loss, joy, aging, and the becoming of who we are today.
Yet many of us have spent years focusing on what our bodies are not rather than appreciating all they have done for us.
But what has our body made possible in our lives?
This will be our cornerstone question throughout the day as we reflect, write and discuss with one another the keys our bodies hold.
In this day long forest retreat, we will slow down and create space to reflect on the ages and stages of our lives, we will examine the stories we carry about our bodies, and cultivate greater appreciation for the bodies we inhabit today. Wherever you are at in your relationship with your body, this retreat intends to help inspire you to move closer to a more positive relationship with the Today Body that is yours. Not your yesterday body or future body, but your Today Body.
The Art of Body Love is a day that will include guided reflection, writing exerices and art making with a purpose within a small circle of creative camaraderie.
Our featured art project will be an expressive mixed-media self-portrait inspired not by traditional portraiture, but by the experience of being in your body.
Using a personal photo as a starting point, you'll create a colorful and meaningful artwork that celebrates your story, your resilience, and your unique way of moving through the world. I will guide you step by step. No painting or drawing experience is needed.
This retreat focuses on expression rather than perfection. I'll share simple techniques and mixed-media methods to help you capture your likeness and transform it into a unique and empowering work of art.
We'll be working with watercolor and mixed media in a beautiful forest setting along the Lewis River.
